The Role of the Electrician 

  • Perform standard day-to-day tasks while prioritising and resolving higher-priority issues that arise. 

  • Collaborate with the maintenance team to tackle problem-solving activities on band saws, conveyor systems, hydraulic motion components and controllers, sawmills which includes stackers, chippers. 

  • Work closely with all staff in various departments to ensure the smooth operation of core business plants. 

  • Maximise the utilisation of machinery and equipment to enhance productivity. 

  • Proactively identify and address issues to eliminate plant downtime and make continuous improvements to processes. 

  • Foster positive relationships and promote a culture of teamwork across all areas of the business. 

  • Collaborate with key stakeholders including the Maintenance Manager (Dennis), Department Managers, Team Leaders, Maintenance Team, Production Team, and the Compliance Team.

The Ideal Person for the Electrician 

  • Preferred industry sector experience with proficiency in PLC controls, three-phase controls, and servo controls. 

  • Will primarily work on the shop floor, handling tasks across all mills and participating in site-wide activities, including projects and installations. 

  • Holds qualifications as a qualified time-served electrician with relevant experience in industrial environments. 

  • Proficient in working with three-phase and single-phase motors, as well as VFD and soft start motor controls, PLC controls, and servo motors. 

  • Experienced in planned preventative maintenance systems, troubleshooting installations, fault finding, and repairs, including LV/MV switchgear. 

  • Capable of interpreting electrical drawings to facilitate maintenance tasks.
