The Role of the Field Service Generator Engineer

  • You will be required to work both in a workshop and site environment 

  • Electrically and mechanically qualified 

  • Be able to do mechanical and electrical fault finding 

  • Repair and service of generators 

  • Repair and service of associated equipment 

  • Investigate, diagnose and resolve customer reports of technical problems with equipment 

  • Service equipment both on and off site 

  • Ability to work independently to troubleshoot and solve problems 

  • Complete paperwork and time sheets in a timely manner 

  • Good customer service skills 

  • Develop and maintain good working relationships with internal and external customers 

  • Ensure compliance with relevant procedures when repairing and inspecting equipment 

  • Ensure work/personal equipment complies with all safety standards 

  • Present a professional image at all times 

  • Take responsibility for health and safety of self, colleagues and customers in line with the company Health and Safety Policy

The Ideal Person for the Field Service Generator Engineer 

  • Solid mechanical aptitude 

  • Minimum 5 years generator experience 

  • Knowledge of engines, alternators, control panels and wiring diagrams 

  • Diagnostic and leadership skills able to work in a team or alone 

  • Driving License  

  • Ability to service the range of machines would also be useful 

  • Excellent verbal, written and critical thinking skills 

  • Proficiency with MS Office 

  • Interpersonal relationships/ Customer awareness/ Commercial awareness 

  • Efficiency 

  • Flexibility – remain flexible to all aspects of the role
