The Role of the Technical Sales Specialist 

  • Our client is a leading UK distributor of advanced life science research products. 

  • The Technical Sales Manager will be part of the team, managing the Scotland region 

  • Selling a carefully selected range of Reagents, Instruments, Next Generation Sequencing Machines, Analysers, DNA kits 

  • Selling into researchers in leading academic and industrial labs 

  • This is a prime sales territory, comprising top academic research centres and many leading biotech companies who are looking to invest in the best new technologies. (60% Accademia + 40% private/commercial) 

  • The Technical Sales Specialist will utilise appropriate sales techniques to protect existing business and to drive new sales across the whole of their region primarily via direct face to face customer meetings or virtual meetings including Teams and other remote applications.  

  • Covering Scotland & Newcastle (Most of the business is around Edinburgh, Glasgow, Aberdeen, Dundee (Ideally located on the M8 Corridor)

The Ideal Person for the Technical Sales Specialist 

  • A life sciences degree, with either a PhD or significant laboratory experience 

  • Minimum of two years field sales experience in the life sciences sector 

  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team  

  • High level of self-motivation and a passion for selling new technologies 

  • The ability to educate customers, tailor information and take control of a sales opportunity 

  • Excellent communication skills: via telephone, email, video calls and in face-to-face meetings 

  • Ability to plan, co-ordinate and implement activities effectively 

  • Highly organised and takes responsibility for their own time management 

  • Full driving licence
